Gene Description PLIN3, perilipin 3, is a member of the perilipin family and is a lipid droplet type protein that rearranges liposomes to form small-lipid discs (PMID: 19451273) and therefore, regulates the formation of lipid droplets (PMID: 31119787). A PLIN3-BRAF fusion has been identified in spitzoid melanoma (PMID: 23890088), and overexpression of Plin3 has been associated with poor prognosis in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (PMID: 29773494).
