Gene Symbol CARM1
Synonyms PRMT4
Gene Description CARM1, coactivator associated arginine methyltransferase 1, is a type 1 arginine methyltransferase that acts in the regulation of transcription, pre-mRNA splicing, cell cycle progression and the DNA damage response (PMID: 32011657). There are conflicting reports of Carm1 activity in normal and tumor cells, possibly due to different transcripts (PMID: 24921003), but overexpression has been correlated with invasive breast cancer and lung cancer (PMID: 23915145, PMID: 24211191).
