Gene Description SIX2, SIX homeobox 2, is a transcription factor that regulates target gene expression (PMID: 18989625) through interaction with EYA co-activator proteins (PMID: 10490620), and is involved in negative regulation of NF-kappaB-mediated inflammatory signaling (PMID: 30894749), regulation of cell proliferation and apoptosis (PMID: 27618015), and in kidney development (PMID: 18682239). SIX2 mutations have been identified in Wilms tumor (PMID: 25670082, PMID: 25670083), and increased Six2 expression has been observed in hepatocellular carcinoma (PMID: 31564506) and renal cell carcinoma (PMID: 31420918).
