Gene Description

FAF1, Fas associated factor 1, is a member of the FAS death-inducing signaling complex (PMID: 19597341) that promotes apoptosis (PMID: 11527403, PMID: 8524870), and plays a role in regulation of diverse cellular processes including NF-kappaB signaling (PMID: 17046979), protein degradation (PMID: 15743842), DNA replication fork progression (PMID: 26842564, PMID: 34644576), and necrosis (PMID: 27662363). FAF1 alterations have been identified in several tumor types, including germline mutations in colorectal cancer (PMID: 32179092), a somatic mutation in leiomyosarcoma (PMID: 25861239), FAF1 deletion in glioblastoma (PMID: 24548782), and a SLC2A1-FAF1 fusion in micropapillary carcinoma of the breast (PMID: 24395524).
