| Gene Description | CHGA, chromogranin A, is a member of the granin protein family expressed by neuroendocrine cells, which is cleaved into multiple peptides, and plays a role in formation of secretory granules, endothelial barrier function, and calcium homeostasis (PMID: 24671122, PMID: 22388654, PMID: 31714338). CHGA level is a biomarker for neuroendocrine tumors (PMID: 24671122, PMID: 22388654) and decreased expression has been observed in early stages of colon cancer (PMID: 31207989), while increased expression has been associated with poor prognosis in prostate cancer (PMID: 31114331). | ||||||||||
