Gene Symbol HHLA2
Synonyms B7-H5 | B7-H7 | B7H7 | B7y
Gene Description HHLA2, HHLA2 member of B7 family, encodes an immune checkpoint inhibitor that regulates T cell activation and proliferation (PMID: 23716685, PMID: 32005952), and plays an immunosuppressive role by binding to KIR3DL3 and inhibiting T cell proliferation (PMID: 34244312, PMID: 33229411), but upon binding to CD28H, plays an immunostimulatory role, inducing T cell proliferation, differentiation, and cytokine production (PMID: 34244312, PMID: 23784006). Overexpression of HHLA2 has been identified in several types of cancer (PMID: 25549724), including lung cancer (PMID: 34181347), hepatocellular carcinoma (PMID: 35371079), and clear cell renal carcinoma (PMID: 31015801).
