Gene Description CKB, creatine kinase B, is a cytosolic enzyme that encodes a brain-type subunit of creatine kinase, which reversibly catalyzes the transfer of phosphate from ATP to generate phosphocreatine, and plays a key role in energy metabolism, and potentially regulates activation and development of immune cells (PMID: 10893433, PMID: 19337362). Overexpression of CKB has been identified in colon cancer (PMID: 16424007).
