Gene Symbol MAP3K8
Synonyms AURA2 | c-COT | COT | EST | ESTF | MEKK8 | Tpl-2 | TPL2
Gene Description MAP3K8, mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase 8, is primarily expressed by the immune system and is activated by TNF-alpha, IL1R, and TLR receptors to induce signaling by MEK 1/2 and ERK 1/2 (PMID: 29183769). MAP3K8 has been shown to function as both a tumor suppressor and an oncogene (PMID: 25723737) and altered expression has been identified in lung cancer (PMID: 28393206) and colorectal cancer (PMID: 23322277), while MAP3K8 fusions are common in spitzoid melanoma (PMID: 30833747, PMID: 31719662, PMID: 31498175).
