Gene Symbol CREM
Synonyms CREM-2 | hCREM-2 | ICER
Gene Description CREM, cAMP responsive element modulator, encodes a bZIP transcription factor that regulates expression of cAMP-responsive genes (PMID: 10390618), and plays a role in spermatogenesis (PMID: 1370576), suppression of interleukin production (PMID: 15841182, PMID: 17372992), circadian rhythm maintenance (PMID: 8943074, PMID: 8609995), and neuronal survival (PMID: 11967539). Decreased Crem expression has been observed in prostate cancer (PMID: 11507053), and fusions with EWSR1 and FUS have been identified in clear cell carcinoma (PMID: 29975250), mesenchymal tumors (PMID: 31305268), and epitheloid fibrosarcoma (PMID: 32964769).
