Gene Description | CTLA4 (CD152), cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4, is a negative regulator of T-cell activation (PMID: 27249753) that is constitutively expressed on Tregs and upregulated upon T-cell receptor (TCR) signaling to compete with the co-stimulatory molecule, CD28, for binding to CD80 and CD86 (PMID: 30565239, PMID: 28102259). CTLA4 germline mutations and CTLA4 insufficiency may increase lymphoma and gastric cancer risk (PMID: 30250467) and immune checkpoint inhibitor blockade of CTLA4 is an important component of anti-tumor immunotherapies (PMID: 23748107, PMID: 26325034). | ||||||||||
