Gene Description CYP17A1, cytochrome P450 family 17 subfamily A member 1, is an enzyme that catalyzes the addition of a hydroxyl group to pregnenolone and progesterone, and cleaves the hydroxylated intermediates to synthesize androgens and corticoids (PMID: 29372682, PMID: 21051590, PMID: 27748439).
