Gene Symbol DAB2
Synonyms DOC-2 | DOC2
Gene Description DAB2, DAB adaptor protein 2, encodes for a phosphoprotein that activates upon binding to other proteins, and is found to play a role in stem cell differentiation, cell arrangement, cytoskeleton assembly, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (PMID: 24638085). DAB2, described as a tumor suppressor, has been found to be deleted or methylated, resulting in decreased expression, in ovarian cancer, breast cancer, and nasopharyngeal carcinoma (PMID: 17115114, PMID: 20525238), while overexpression in urothelial carcinoma of the bladder has been associated with poor prognosis (PMID: 31968685).
