| Gene Description | COL22A1, collagen type XXII alpha 1 chain, encodes a fibril-associated collagen localized at tissue junctions (PMID: 15016833), which binds alpha2beta1 integrin and alpha11beta1 integrin (PMID: 24428702), and plays a role in bone remodeling (PMID: 34831244) and the maintenance of vascular (PMID: 30541770) and myotendinous junction stability (PMID: 24131632). COL22A1 mutations have been identified in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (PMID: 35365379), and increased expression of COL22A1 has been identified in head and neck cancer (PMID: 24649348), KIT/PDGFRA/SDH/RAS pathway wild-type gastrointestinal stromal tumor (PMID: 25239601), and nasopharyngeal carcinoma (PMID: 35038119). | ||||||||||||
