Gene Description

GLIS3, GLIS family zinc finger 3, is a member of a family of zinc finger transcription factors expressed mainly in the kidney, thyroid gland, pancreas, thymus, testis and uterus, and plays a role in cellular proliferation, apoptosis, differentiation, and development (PMID: 30555422). GLIS3 fusions have been identified in hyalinizing trabecular tumors (PMID: 30648929) and fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma (PMID: 25122662), and Glis3 overexpression has been identified in a variety of tumor types including glioblastoma, ependymoma, ductal breast carcinoma, renal cell carcinoma, colorectal cancer, and melanoma (PMID: 31474360).
