Gene Symbol DPYD
Synonyms DHP | DHPDHASE | DPD | DYPD
Gene Description DPYD, dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase, is a rate-limiting enzyme involved in catabolism of pyrimidines, including uracil (PMID: 9830621, PMID: 26804652, PMID: 24648345). DPYD deficiency, including inactivating mutations, has been associated with increased risk of toxicity with fluoropyrimidine chemotherapy treatments, such as 5-fluorouracil (PMID: 9830621, PMID: 28481884, PMID: 24648345, PMID: 26804652, PMID: 14635116).
