Gene Description EIF4A2, eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4A2, encodes an RNA helicase that is required for initiation of protein translation (PMID: 21427765), and plays a role in microRNA-mediated gene silencing (PMID: 23559250). BCL6-EIF4A2 fusions have been identified in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (PMID: 10637510), an FGFR2-EIF42A fusion has been identified in lung squamous cell carcinoma (PMID: 29617662), and altered expression of EIF4A2 has been observed in malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor, vestibular schwannoma (PMID: 26951381), triple-negative breast cancer (PMID: 31308851), and non-small cell lung cancer (PMID: 23867391).
