Gene Description FAP, fibroblast activation protein alpha, is a membrane gelatinase of the serine protease family (PMID: 29410133) that is expressed in embryonic tissues, but rarely in normal tissues (PMID: 30383930). Aberrant expression of Fap is commonly observed in tumor stromal fibroblasts (PMID: 29410133) in epithelial carcinomas, where it may suppress tumor immunity (PMID: 29273462).
