NCSTN, nicastrin, encodes a scafolding protein of the gamma-secretase complex (PMID: 16096062, PMID: 15711015), which cleaves and activates transmembrane proteins including Notch (PMID: 10993067, PMID: 32631394, PMID: 32071239). Overexpression of NCSTN has been observed in hepatocellular carcinoma (PMID: 32631394) and breast cancer (PMID: 20224929).
