Gene Description

LRIG1, leucine rich repeats and immunoglobulin like domains 1, is a negative regulator of receptor tyrosine kinase signaling, and plays an important role in stem cell maintenance, cell proliferation, and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (PMID: 28259645). LRIG1 loss and decreased expression has been identified in breast cancer (PMID: 18922900), renal cell carcinoma (PMID: 22554477), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (PMID: 19779621), squamous cell carcinoma (PMID: 18657901), and glioma (PMID: 19300910), while overexpression of Lrig1 has been identified in prostate cancer (PMID: 21128282).
