Gene Description GATA4, GATA binding protein 4, encodes a zinc-finger type transcription factor that plays a role in development of the heart (PMID: 29111206), and multiple endoderm derived organs including liver and pancreas (PMID: 19028990, PMID: 16079152). Gata4 hypermethylation has been identified in multiple tumor types including ovarian cancer (PMID: 28241454), gastric carcinoma (PMID: 20222162), and glioblastoma (PMID: 23320456), and overexpression has been identified in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PMID: 19918328).
