Gene Description APOBEC3C, apolipoprotein B mRNA editing enzyme catalytic subunit 3C, is a cytidine deaminase that induces C-to-U mutations in single-stranded DNA, functioning in host defense against retroviruses and foreign DNA (PMID: 20062055, PMID: 21632763). APOBEC3C may play a role in the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (PMID: 26221327) and overexpression in breast cancer has been associated with increased survival (PMID: 30881302).
