Gene Description

GNA12, G protein subunit alpha 12, encodes the alpha subunit of the G12/G13 heterotrimeric G protein that mediates G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) downstream signaling (PMID: 35237598, PMID: 34689178) and is involved in diverse cellular functions including cell growth (PMID: 18038259), migration (PMID: 19422395), and immune cell function (PMID: 35237598). GNA12 mutations have been identified in melanoma (PMID: 20424519) and increased GNA12 expression has been identified in breast (PMID: 16705036) and prostate cancer (PMID: 16787920).
