Gene Description GNAO1, G protein subunit alpha o1, is a subunit of the heterotrimeric G protein, which plays a role in transducing cellular signals (PMID: 24366063). Hypermethylation of GNAO1 and subsequent down regulation of expression may play a role in promoting tumorigenesis in hepatocellular carcinoma (PMID: 29709639, PMID: 23984917), however in gastric cancer, overexpression of Gnao1 may correlate with poor prognosis (PMID: 24366063).
