Gene Description ANPEP, alanyl aminopeptidase, membrane, is a membrane-bound metalloproteinase that preferentially cleaves neutral amino acids of biologically active peptides (PMID: 18603472), and has non-enzymatic functions in diverse biological processes including phagocytosis (PMID: 24063007), cell polarity (PMID: 34349123), integrin recycling and cell migration (PMID: 31040262), angiogenesis (PMID: 11157481), and viral infection (PMID: 1350662). Increased expression of ANPEP has been observed in pancreatic cancer (PMID: 27788483), non-small cell lung cancer (PMID: 16361553), and hepatocellular carcinoma (PMID: 29145632).
