Gene Symbol CXCL1
Synonyms FSP | GRO1 | GROa | MGSA | MGSA-a | NAP-3 | SCYB1
Gene Description CXCL1, growth-regulated alpha protein, is a chemoattractive chemokine that binds the CXCR2 receptor (PMID: 28455419) to promote angiogenesis (PMID: 30479461) and recruitment of immune cells to the tumor microenvironment (PMID: 30319622). Overexpression of Cxcl1 has been observed in colorectal cancer (PMID: 30479461), in premetastatic liver where it recruits myeloid-derived suppressor cells (PMID: 28455419), and may be associated with decreased survival in oral squamous carcinoma (PMID: 30616781).
