Gene Description

A1CF, APOBEC1 complementation factor, is an RNA binding protein and part of a complex which edits the mRNA of apolipoprotein B (PMID: 11871661, PMID: 31881249). Deletion of an eight amino acid motif in the nuclear localization domain of A1cf has been demonstrated to promote breast cancer proliferation in culture (PMID: 27231908), decreased expression of A1cf increased apoptosis of breast cancer cells in culture (PMID: 28639893), and in Wilms tumor cell models, overexpression of A1cf decreased apoptosis (PMID: 30825095).

The web-based, subscription version, CKB BOOST™, includes more than 2000 cancer-related genes and is designed to interrogate the knowledgebase for specific data attributes while enabling a robust browse-like feature when the desired content is unknown.

Downloadable data from CKB is available using the FLEX version. CKB FLEX delivers CKB content as a flat file or JSON, enabling CKB data integration.
