Gene Description HSD3B1, hydroxy-delta-5-steroid dehydrogenase, 3 beta- and steroid delta-isomerase 1, is an enzyme that is involved in the biosynthesis of steroid hormones, specifically, participating in the catalysis step required for the formation of all types of steroid hormones (PMID: 28655875, PMID: 15632317). A mutation in HSD3B1 has been associated with prostate cancer (PMID: 27575027).
