Gene Description HSPA5, endoplasmic reticulum chaperone BiP, is an endoplasmic reticulum chaperone of the Hsp70 protein family (PMID: 28286085) that plays a role in regulation of the unfolded protein response (PMID: 27791469). Overexpression of Hspa5 has been observed in breast, prostate, lung, and liver cancer, where it may promote proliferation and metastasis (PMID: 28286085).
