Gene Symbol ID3
Synonyms bHLHb25 | HEIR-1
Gene Description ID3, inhibitor of DNA binding 3, HLH protein, is a helix-loop-helix (HLH) transcription factor family member that lacks a DNA binding domain, which binds to other HLH proteins to prevent their DNA binding activity (PMID: 25248477, PMID: 16034366) and regulate apoptosis (PMID: 30008847). Overexpression of Id3 is associated with several tumor types (PMID: 12842081), including intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, where it is associated with poor prognosis and resistance to chemotherapy (PMID: 30520117), but in other tumor types, Id3, may enhance sensitivity of chemotherapy (PMID: 30008847).
