Gene Description IFIT3, interferon induced protein with tetratricopeptide repeats 3, is a member of the IRF-inducible gene family that plays a role in the immune defense against RNA viruses and regulation of apoptosis (PMID: 30234477, PMID: 31921891). Overexpression of Ifit3 in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma has been associated with decreased cell apoptosis, resistance to chemotherapy, and poor prognosis (PMID: 28210844) however, in hepatocellular carcinoma Ifit3 overexpression shows a better response to interferon-alpha (PMID: 28295457), and in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) Ifit3 overexpression is associated with poor prognosis (PMID: 31977029).
