Synonyms IKK-2 | IKK-beta | IKK2 | IKKB | IMD15 | IMD15A | IMD15B | NFKBIKB
Gene Description IKBKB, inhibitor of nuclear factor kappa B kinase subunit beta, encodes a protein that phosphorylates inhibitors of NF-kB transcription factors, thereby, resulting in activation of NF-kB and thus, indirectly influencing cellular processes related to immune function, survival, and apoptosis (PMID: 18308615). Activating IKBKB mutations have been identified in lymphoma and myeloma (PMID: 25107905), and overexpression in clear cell renal carcinoma has been associated with decreased survival (PMID: 30483769).
