| Gene Description | IRS1, insulin receptor substrate 1, encodes an adaptor protein that acts as a substrate for a variety of receptors including the insulin and insulin-like growth factor receptors, thereby mediating insulin signaling and subsequent PI3K signaling, and cytokine receptors, leading to JAK/STAT pathway signaling (PMID: 8384986, PMID: 15157524). Overexpression of IRS1 has been identified in pancreatic cancer (PMID: 8607861), hepatocellular carcinoma (PMID: 16127164), and breast cancer (PMID: 9815941). | ||||||||||
