Gene Description ARG2, arginase 2, is an enzyme primarily located in the mitochondria that hydrolyzes arginine to ornithine and urea (PMID: 11370664) and plays a role in nitric oxide synthesis (PMID: 9686345, PMID: 1505097), cellular senescence and apoptosis (PMID: 23832324), and inflammatory response (PMID: 33674584, PMID: 23130157). Increased expression of ARG2 has been observed in follicular thyroid carcinoma (PMID: 15085203).
