Gene Symbol LIG4
Synonyms LIG4S
Gene Description LIG4, DNA ligase 4, is an enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of adenosine 5'-monophosphate (AMP) to 5’-phosphate of double-stranded DNA breaks, and plays an important role in non-homologous end joining and V(D)J recombination (PMID: 18518823, PMID: 10946235). Overexpression of Lig4 has been observed in prostate cancer (PMID: 26134445), and polymorphisms in LIG4 have been associated with survival in glioblastoma (PMID: 20368557).
