Gene Symbol MAP3K4
Synonyms MAPKKK4 | MEKK 4 | MEKK4 | MTK1 | PRO0412
Gene Description MAP3K4, mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase 4, encodes a member of the MAPK superfamily of protein kinases, which can be activated by cellular stress, leading to activation of the MAP2K-MAPK signaling pathway, and has been demonstrated to play a role in development, including mammalian sex determination (PMID: 31346208, PMID: 24928207, PMID: 17348032). MAP3K4 mutations have been identified in triple-receptor negative breast cancer (PMID: 25079324) and overexpression of MAP3K4 has been identified in small cell lung cancer (PMID: 16705311).
