Gene Description ABCC1, ATP binding cassette subfamily C member 1, is a member of the multidrug resistance protein family that encodes a lipophilic anion efflux transporter that uses ATP binding and hydrolysis for energy, and may play a role in glutathione and folate homeostasis, inflammatory response, and mediation of drug resistance (PMID: 14576857, PMID: 16387301, PMID: 2528174). Increased expression of ABCC1 has been identified in several tumor types, including neuroblastoma (PMID: 8532000), epithelial ovarian cancer (PMID: 24024181), prostate cancer, lung cancer, and breast cancer (PMID: 18085475).
