| Gene Description | MT-CO2, mitochondrially encoded cytochrome c oxidase II, is one of 13 subunits that form Complex IV (CIV) in the mitochondrial respiratory chain (PMID: 28521807) that produces nitric oxide and PGE2 and plays a role in inflammation and response to hypoxia (PMID: 30152521). MT-CO2 has been associated with decreased survival, and somatic variants have been identified in MUTYH-associated polyposis (PMID: 26138249). | ||||||||||
