| Gene Description | MUC1, mucin 1, cell surface associated, is a member of the mucin family of glycoproteins that provides a protective barrier from environmental factors in normal epitheliumm (PMID: 11192832, PMID: 27483328) and is involved in signaling during carcinogenesis and cancer progression (PMID: 34207342, PMID: 19935676). Hypoglycosylation and overexpression of MUC1 has been observed in different tumor types (PMID: 24667139, PMID: 27754373), including mesothelioma (PMID: 18454162), pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PMID: 12379756), acute myeloid leukemia (PMID: 18640764), and breast carcinoma (PMID: 11391575). | ||||||||||
