Gene Description | NCL, nucleolin, is a multifunction RNA-binding protein that regulates ribosomal biogenesis, gene expression, and genome stability in the nucleus, maintains mRNA and centrosome stability in the cytoplasm, and is involved in receptor signaling at the cell surface regulating apoptosis and cell proliferation (PMID: 25866190, PMID: 22617883). A fusion with NCL and MUC16 has been identified in high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (PMID: 31745703) and overexpression of Ncl has been identified in gastric cancer (PMID: 23763304), hepatocellular carcinoma (PMID: 25698534), and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (PMID: 17179226). | ||||||||||
