Gene Symbol ACLY
Synonyms ACL | ATPCL | CLATP
Gene Description ACLY, ATP citrate lyase, encodes an enzyme that converts citrate to acetyl-CoA, a key substrate for lipogenesis and histone acetylation, and oxaloacetate, which plays a role in glycolysis (PMID: 31873304, PMID: 30944476, PMID: 33679780). ACLY overexpression has been identified in several cancer types, including gastric adenocarcinoma (PMID: 26221340), renal cell carcinoma (PMID: 29725424), colorectal cancer (PMID: 24132143), ovarian cancer (PMID: 33816292), and breast cancer (PMID: 28443474).
