Gene Description

NUMA1, nuclear mitotic apparatus protein 1, is a nuclear matrix component that regulates mitotic spindle dynamic and nuclei reassembly after mitosis (PMID: 20137953) and plays a role in axon initial segment assembly (PMID: 31727776). NUMA1 fusions have been identified in inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor and myeloproliferative neoplasms (PMID: 29439172, PMID: 28449810), overexpression of Numa1 has been detected in epithelial ovarian cancer (PMID: 22719996), and a NUMA1 mutation has been reported in choroid plexus papilloma (PMID: 31612017).
