Gene Description PAX3, paired box 3, encodes for one of the transcription factors of the PAX gene family, which plays a prominent role during fetal development (PMID: 19221588) and regulates genes involved in cell proliferation, survival, differentiation, and motility (PMID: 29730428). PAX3 fusions with FOXO1 are frequently observed in alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma (PMID: 24334454, PMID: 32087612, PMID: 30373318) and with MAML3 in biphenotypic sinonasal sarcoma (PMID: 29730428), and Pax3 overexpression has been associated with poor prognosis in epithelial ovarian cancer (PMID: 31823759) and cervical cancer (PMID: 31302815).
