Gene Description

ASAP1, Arf-GAP with SH3 domain, ANK repeat and PH domain-containing protein 1, is an Arf GTPase-activating enzyme stimulated by PIP2 to activate ADP-ribosylation factors (Arfs) and plays a role in cytoskeleton remodeling (PMID: 26893376). Altered expression of ASAP1 has been observed in multiple cancers, where it may promote metastasis (PMID: 27694689) and amplification and/or overexpression has been observed in triple negative breast cancer (PMID: 32235890).
