Gene Description

PCBP1, poly(rC) binding protein 1, encodes a member of the heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins, functioning as an RNA-binding and DNA-binding protein (PMID: 16979592), and plays a role in regulating transcription and translational activities, and mRNA stabilization (PMID: 17389360, PMID: 20609352, PMID: 18656558). PCBP1 mutations have been identified in Burkitt lymphoma (PMID: 26173642) and decreased expression of PCBP1 has been identified in gastric cancer (PMID: 29138420).
