Gene Description

CLDN18, claudin 18, encodes a tight junction protein that lies between the epithelial cells in either the stomach or lung, forming the paracellular barrier, which prevents solutes from entering and exiting between cells (PMID: 11585919, PMID: 18987354). A fusion with ARHGAP26 has been observed in gastric cancer (PMID: 26146084, PMID: 30771244) and expression of the CLDN18.2 alternative transcript has been associated with gastric cancer, lung cancer (PMID: 24710653, PMID: 19047087), and pancreatic cancer (PMID: 31182754).

Downloadable data from CKB is available using the FLEX version. CKB FLEX delivers CKB content as a flat file or JSON, enabling CKB data integration.
