Gene Description POLK, DNA polymerase kappa, is a Y-family DNA polymerase that bypasses DNA damage through insertion and extension past the damaged nucleotides (PMID: 31374881), and is involved in mutagenesis (PMID: 12432099), DNA repair (PMID: 22658724, PMID: 20227374), and genome stability (PMID: 22157819). POLK mutations have been identified in prostate (PMID: 26046662), gastric (PMID: 27603496), and breast cancer (PMID: 26765445), Polk overexpression has been identified in lung cancer (PMID: 11454676) and glioma (PMID: 20164241), and decreased Polk expression has been reported in colorectal cancer (PMID: 17099721).
