Gene Description

MAGEC2, MAGE family member C2, encodes a cancer-testis antigen (PMID: 10699956), and plays a role in regulation of cell proliferation and Tp53 protein levels through binding to the E3 ubiquitin ligases Mdm2 and Trim28 (PMID: 35927984, PMID: 20864041). Increased MAGEC2 expression has been associated with hepatocellular carcinoma (PMID: 31576142, PMID: 26057582) and metastatic breast cancer (PMID: 24687377), and expression of MAGEC2 has been identified frequently in multiple myeloma (PMID: 23180015, PMID: 20621094).
