Gene Symbol PDPK1
Synonyms PDK1 | PDPK2 | PDPK2P | PRO0461
Gene Description PDPK1, 3-phosphoinositide dependent protein kinase 1, encodes for a serine/threonine kinase that is responsible for phosphorylating the activation domain of AGC protein kinases (PMID: 24039447) and may play a role in PI3K/Akt, Ras/MAPK, and Myc signaling pathways (PMID: 28473254). Overexpression and/or amplification of PDPK1 has been demonstrated to result in transformation in several types of cancers (PMID: 24039447, PMID: 25269480), including hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (PMID: 31778670), diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (PMID: 30912195), and malignant pheochromocytoma (PMID: 30759304).
