Gene Description WWOX, WW domain containing oxidoreductase, binds to several different proteins, including transcription factors to suppress transactivation, and thereby is involved in many cellular processes (PMID: 36271927, PMID: 24550385) such as glucose metabolism (PMID: 25012504), oxidative stress (PMID: 36364214), and apoptosis (PMID: 16219768), and acts as a dehydrogenase that catalyzes steroid substrates, likely playing a role in steroid metabolism (PMID: 36271927, PMID: 21476439). Deletion and/or promoter hypermethylation of WWOX has been identified in breast cancer (PMID: 30211123, PMID: 15674328) and lung cancer (PMID: 15674328, PMID: 20480411).
