Gene Symbol PLCB4
Synonyms ARCND2 | ARCND2A | ARCND2B | PI-PLC
Gene Description PLCB4, phospholipase C beta 4, also known as 1-phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate phosphodiesterase beta-4, is one of four isozymes of phospholipase C (PMID: 31080817) that catalyzes the production of diacylglycerol (DAG) and inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) (PMID: 22560091). Gain of function mutations in PLCB4 have been identified in uveal melanoma (PMID: 26683228, PMID: 32340176, PMID: 32029634), and overexpression of Plcb4 has been associated with poor prognosis in pediatric acute myeloid leukemia (PMID: 31788080) and a better prognosis in non-small cell lung cancer (PMID: 31080817).
